TO UNDERSTAND THAT REHABILITATION
OF POOR DISABLED CHILDREN SHOULD BE OF PRIMARY IMPORTANCE.
The original approach to recognize
“Bhakti Luhur" and Community Based Rehabilitation becomes
essential to reach millions of very poor, disabled and abandoned
persons in the struggle against poverty by hard working for the
welfare of the poor and disabled at every instance in history.

CHANGES IN MENTAL ATTITUDE TOWARD PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Radical changes in mentality and ideas that
are inherent in the opinion, tradition and attitude of the
community are needed. Such cultural change does not occur
mainly by the elimination of negative aspects, but it is necessary
indeed to create a new mentality that is more open and respectful
in order to recognize and to defend the rights of every individual
with disability to be the key role in his/her own life.

EXPANSION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW GROUPS AND
SCHOOLS
At present, BHAKTI LUHUR FOUNDATION is to be
found on every major islands in Indonesia. There are close to a
thousand persons who involve themselves in the efforts to give
advocacy to the poor and disabled people to have a decent life by
methods that conform with our time, the Indonesian cultures, and
Community Based Rehabilitation.
Concerned about poverty throughout the world and particularly in
Indonesia, BHAKTI LUHUR builds "boarding houses/wisma"
(homes), study groups, vocational training centers, and special
schools for disabled children in Indonesia. These projects would
be implemented with invaluable supports from the local and central
governments in Indonesia.

THE TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL POLICIES
Inclusive training and education are one of
the most important operational focus of Bhakti Luhur's working
methods. These trainings and education have not only spiritual and
mental characteristics but also technical and special, that would
meet the special needs of children with disabilities and the
Community Based Rehabilitation of poor and disabled children.
These trainings are inspired by the vision
of BHAKTI
LUHUR that only through an inclusive, permanent and guided
educational program would we be able to learn to:

free ourselves from the habit of (showing)
indifference when we see the poverty of disabled children as
daily reality and not as an unbearable injustice.

implant and cultivate within ourselves the
capacity to question and to reject any injustice and
discrimination toward disabled people.

place ourselves up against any recent
facts with intellectual curiosity that analyzes in depth every
reality to detect/to find changes and thereby to comprehend the
causes of disabilities and to measure the effects.

develop a critical spirit to evaluate reality
without subjected (to any standard), objectively and
without prejudice.

act without pessimism, eliminating fatalism
to face the disabled with truthfulness/ sincerely.

refurbish/renew our mentality and manner
without being afraid of any changes and accept them
enthusiastically and be expectant of transformation.
BHAKTI
LUHUR FOUNDATION provides technical and educational trainings and
courses on providing service to disabled children, youths, and
adults.

COOPERATION AND NETWORKING
BHAKTI LUHUR FOUNDATION works in cooperation
with all organizations and basic communities who are involved in
the struggle against disability, powerlessness and handicaps.
Based on PANCASILA (the five basic
principles of the Republic of Indonesia) and the guidelines of the
Church in its option for the poor.
BHAKTI LUHUR FOUNDATION is a
Catholic Foundation but it is open to and has liaisons with any
groups who serve the poor and the disabled.
BHAKTI LUHUR FOUNDATION is in the
endless renovating and conforming process with our time.
